Q:

What Are the Different Types of Social anxiety treatments?

A: Social anxiety disorder is a psychological condition in which a person feels extreme fear and anxiety when facing social situations. A person suffering from this disorder may be terrified at the thought of other people watching them, or they may be afraid of being criticized or judged by others. This condition can be mild or completely debilitating, leading the affected person to stay at home as much as possible. Some social anxiety treatments may include counseling, cognitive-behavior therapy, or the use of prescription medications. Counseling is considered to be among the most successful social anxiety treatments. The goal of counseling is...

Q:

Is there an anti-anxiety treatment that doesn`t have sexual side effects?

A: Dear Reader Your girlfriend is courageous to confront a problem that she has been struggling with for so long, and to experience some relief from her anxiety. However, it is terribly frustrating when a medication that is providing such clear relief has negative side effects as well. Unfortunately, the kinds of medications that are used to treat anxiety (and depression) often cause changes that need getting used to, or experience in managing. About 60 percent of people taking the kind of medication your girlfriend is on report that they have unwanted sexual side effects, including inability or difficulty in orgasming, lower sex drive, less vaginal lubrication, and problems with erections in men. You can encourage your girlfriend to tell her...

A: 30 Nov 2011 Hello, first of all, Welcome to the group! We''re glad to have you. I don''t know a whole lot about all of this, but will share what I do know and think. I am 41 now, but when I was in my twenties I went through a period where I had to take the exact same thing you''re on now. Coreg. For fast heartbeat and blood pressure. I personnaly feel like the Coreg is what it''s for. Cardiovascular issues. And you should not stop it by yourself. Only if your doctor gives you the OK to do so. If you are having alot of

Q:

I need an answer to this question NOW. Are there any over the counter anxiety treatments?

A: I am a respiratory therapist and I do not recommend breathing into a paper bag unless you are hyperventilating. You expire carbon dioxide into the bag and then you continue to rebreathe it. Granted there is a little bit of oxygen left but after a few puffs it''s gone. We only recommend that if you are hyperventilating as it helps your body return to it''s normal acid-base balance a lot faster. After that, you can cause yourself to become unconscious if you keep it up for too long. The only recommendations I have are Magnesium, which helps to relax your muscles. This is why women crave chocolate while on their periods. It has Magnesium and it helps to relieve those cramps. I have horrible anxiety myself, but I don''t find any over the counter things that work for...

Q:

Social anxiety treatment ?

A: Hi, and thanks for your medical question on eHealth''s Ask a Doctor forum. Actually all mental disorders are dealt by both a psychiatrist who is a doctor trained in mental disorder or a psychologist who studies mental behavior. If your illness needs only counseling, then a psychologist can help. Ideally you should consult a psychiatrist who can both counsel and prescribe medications. If he feels you will improve by counseling, he will refer you to a psychologist. Hope this helps. Take care!...
