Q:
What does It Mean To have High Calcium In The Blood?
A: Having too much calcium in the blood is called Hypercalcemia. Calcium is needed in bone formation, muscle contraction, release of hormones, and making sure your nerves and brain are working well. Too much calcium will mess up these processes. if you are experiencing the symptoms of hypercalcemia such as excessive thirst, frequent urination and abdominal pain, see your doctor immediately. Hypercalcemia which just means high calcium levels can cause problems with bone formation, nerve and brain function and other body fuctions that calcium aids in. I would talk with your doctor about this on...

Q:
Receptor problem in my brain?
A: 28 Mar 2012 Dear rexrasss, Not sure what all is wrong with your body, but there are other means of pain control besides the narcotics. For the RA and OA there are medications such as non steroidal anti inflammatories or even stronger meds like Plaquenil. you may also want to talk to the doctor about medications for neuropathy such as Lyrica. if you approach the doctors with the notion of non narcotic solutions such as these they may respond to you differently. Another idea that comes to mind is the antidepressant Cymbalta which also helps with nerve pain. Worth asking the

Q:
I was recently taken off all of my medications that are controlled. how can docs do this abrupt?
A: 14 Sep 2011 I''m a little confused here Lori. Are you saying they refused to give you prednisone and Albuterol? Neither of those are controlled substances so I dont understand why they would withold those from you. One thing I do know, you are not furthering your cause by going to the street or borrowing meds from friends. This WILL get you into trouble and have you labelled as an addict and pill seeker. This can happen at times if a Dr thinks you are s

Q:
Little Brother Addicted (Oxycodone, Hydrocodone etc)
A: Sounds like your situation is serious. Unfortunately, only your brother can make the decision to quit. It seems that your brother is suffering from more than just an addiction to meds. He seems to be suffering from some kind of mental illness. Just being addicted to opiates won''t turn you into a monster. I functioned well for over 10 years taking enormous amounts of opiates and benzos. In fact, I have medical reasons to take the meds such as chronic pain (kidney stones, over forty broken bones, countles surgeries mostly from sports and car accidents); Anxiety Disorder (Sweating, panic attacks, insomnia). That being said I

Q:
I''m so ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A: Hi, Enigma. I almost wrote a few days back when you first mentioned your primary care dr. *laughing* at your rheumie''s Dx of lupus. how hideously WRONG of him. But I think doctors LIKE to put one another down---which is a way of putting you down, too, simultaneously, I think. And to what end? They''re highjacking youR appt. to play their power & put-down games. My (then) OB/GYN also laughed when I answered his question, "What''s changed since your last appt.?" Told him I''d been Dx''ed with lupus. He had the...

Q:
New here and have questions. does anyone have osteo just in the hips?
A: Hi MojoZane, welcome to the board. There are many here who can advise you about the forteo and other osteo meds. I can help with strontium questions as can several others here. you''re pretty well covered for getting lots of good help. With 3 kids you probably get plenty of exercise, which is very important for helping your bones. you want to do weight bearing exercises like jogging, walking, stair climbing, anything that you do standing up. Bike riding is great aerobic exercise, but doesn''t help the bones. you''ll also want to start weight...

Fantastic Improvement
A: Hi Boneman** FANTASTIC NEWS!!! I''LL bet you are over the moon right now, I''m so happy for you and that your choice of treatment really "did" work great. I don''t know much about HGH, so you''ve got me at a disadvantage here, maybe you could help us out and explain what it does for you, in lay mans terms. I guess it helps the low pituatary, but I''ve got to admit I haven''t even done much reading on it, so I really don''t know. do

Q:
do I have a Heart Problem? - Update
A: sorry you have to deal with this at such a young age. your synptoms sure do sound like heart related issues, but there are so many things that mimic heart attack. just know this if you were having a heart attack, you probably would not be discussing it with us right now, so i would think it could be something else. do you have an ''a '' type personality? somethimes if we tend to be stressed out about things it can cause stomach problems that...

Q:
Encephalopathy, or could it me Dimentia??
A: Hi Mer, have they done an EEG lately. My husband had a small stroke a few months after he started having seizures. Also is he on Xifaxan? Maybe he has an infection. The lactulose doesn''t work so good by itself when an infection is going on. Hang in there.......are you taking some time for yourself? I know it''s hard to find the time given your circumstances but it really is a must do.......for your own sanity. Thoughts and prayers............ 3 months ago. Then, our insurance changed and now I am having a heck of a time getting a neuro...
