Q:
Can you use Steri Strips (butterfly stitches) on old wounds?
A: Well, if you are planning to leave the Steri Strips on for 7 days, as long as your wound isn't SEVERE, it should be healed enough to hold itself together through the rest of the healing process. If your wound was wide or deep, or it is on an area of skin particularly stretched a lot, like the elbow or forearm area, then take precaution after taking your bandages off.
If the wound starts secreting yellow puss, becomes inflamed, or is hot to the touch, it is very likely that you have an infection and need to get it checked out immediately.
The air exposure is sometimes good for healing. As long as it's been at least 24 hours from the time of the wound occuring.
Good luck!...

Q:
old wounds
A: Michelle,
It must be horribly hard to have lived all these years in such guilt. Michelle you?ve got to know that what happened to your sister wasn?t your fault. If you had known you would have taken every precaution to ensure her safety. But you had no idea that someone would break into your home and rape your sister all those years ago. It?s traumatic enough just to have your home broken into, let alone have to carry with you that the person raped your sister.
How is your relationship with your sister? Does she blame you? My guess is she doesn?t and never would. You?ve got to forgive yourself.
Michelle, I don?t know your location, therefore; I don?t know what your options are for therapy. You can always search online, ask for a referral from your primary...

Q:
old INJURY
A: Without being able to see it I can"t really tell you what you should do. The ball is in your court. If this old injury is still causing a lot of pain I would recommend getting a doctor to check it out. It is not normal for it to bleed this long after the injury. With that in mind, it is very normal for an old wound, like a broken bone, to hurt for years after it has healed. Depending on weather and on the person"s physical activity, it could hurt for years. If it is severely interfering in his life I would recommend getting it checked out.

Q:
how do you tell a 4 year old about death?
A: Hi Holly and thanks for writing,
Talking To Children About Death
Introduction
If you are concerned about discussing death with your children, you?re not alone. Many of us hesitate to talk about death, particularly with youngsters. But death is an inescapable fact of life. We must deal with it and so must our children; if we are to help them, we must let them know it?s okay to talk about it.
By talking to our children about death, we may discover what they know and do not know - if they have misconceptions, fears, or worries. We can then help them by providing needed information, comfort, and understanding. Talk does not solve all problems, but without talk we are even more limited in our ability to help.
What we say about death to our children, or when we say it, will depend...

Q:
has my 3 year old been molested?
A: Lis, It is hard to dialogue with a 3 year old, but it seems plain that there is some kind of mistreatment going on, based on physical evidence and his reactions to this man.
I think that it is right to be concerned here, especially with your own past issues. A young child"s perceptions of things is very much in the shape-shifting as they don"t have a lot of clear vocabulary to work with. When they don"t have that skill, they do the best they can. Perhaps a little more gentle communication with him about his experiences will yield more clues.
I know your personal radar is highly sensitive to the subject of molestation, so I think you need to have some clear and concise communications with your boyfriend about how he treats your son. If he is evasive and overly...

Q:
my wife is 38 years old. she has a wound in middle of the head. also very painful. more than 2 years she is having this problum. we went the doctor. doctor is given many medicene but result is 0. please help me for this problum.
A: It is important to assess the seriousness of your wife’s wound before trying home remedies to treat it. While small wounds and cuts can be treated easily at home, if there is unbearable pain, inflammation and redness around the wound, discharge like colorless fluids or pus or swollen glands then you should seek immediate medical attention. Different wounds are treated differently depending on how they occurred and their level of seriousness. With the exception of bone, all tissue in the body heals with some scarring. Normally, your body works towards naturally mending the wound. Therefore, if the wound has not healed for two years, it may require medical investigation. However, here are some simple remedies you can try to relieve...

Q:
I have a wound that is healing by secondary intention. Is it true that if a wound is delayed in healing, (infection, smoker, old age, etc.), that it increases the chance of having nerve pain from the scar tissue?
A: Hello Welcome to the forum. Usually contaminated lacerated wounds are allowed to heal with secondary indention onlyif the wound surfaces can not be approximated because of the loss of skin or there is a risk of infection tospread in a grossly contaminated open wound. Wound healing is a complex process which requires the biologicalsystem to work in its full capacity. Any insult like smoking or infection or the old age can definitelycompromise its regenerative capacity.Wound healing involves various sub processes, starting from Haemostasis (clotting at the wound site) followedby Inflammatory response (cleansing of the dead cells) followed by Granulation (new tissue generation) andthen Remodeling at the end. These sub processes occur with...

Q:
What Is a Wound Cover?
A: A wound cover or dressing is any suitable piece of material that covers and protects a wound. It is primarily used to prevent infection and to facilitate the healing process of broken skin. Organic sources such as plant parts, animal fat, and honey were some of the materials used as wound covers in ancient times, while synthetic polymers constitute wound covers from the 20th century. The type of wound dictates which cover is to be used. A wound cover may be passive, interactive, or bioactive. Debris and germs can enter the skin through a wound, such as a deep cut or even a simple scratch. This can cause infection that worsens the severity of the wound and can possibly spread to other parts of the body. A wound cover acts as a physical barrier that protects the wound against the elements,...

Q:
how do old folks cure open wounds
A: Home Remedies for old Folks wounds A familiar lamentation amongst elderly people is the amount of time it takes to heal a little wound or an open sore. Injuries and wounds are not known to heal rapidly among older folks and this has obviously to do with age. The body’s competency to mend even tiny skin eruptions can get hampered by the slowing down of the body's metabolism. For faster relief take fresh aloe leaves and boil it in water. The fleshy part of the aloe leaf must then be used as a dressing over the wound. Another folk remedy is the application of fresh turmeric powder over the wound as a natural antiseptic and a curative. Recent studies indicate that

Q:
Do you change the bandages of a wound after surgery, and put hydrogen peroxide on it?
A: the answer is yes to keep it clean put Hydrogen Peroxide on it this will help you The surgeon should have given you specific instructions on changing the bandage (dressing is the medical term). Some surgeons prefer that you leave it alone and come to their office for a scheduled change. Others may have you or a family member instructed in doing a sterile dressing change and will give you details as to how often, what to use, etc. Rarely does anyone order straight Hydrogen Peroxide for a wound. It can do damage if it seeps into the wound and under the skin where conditions are aneorobic (lack oxygen). If you have no instructions then you need to contact the surgeon or your doctor. If you get an infection in the ankle because you did an unsterile dressing change you will need IV antiobiotics...
