Q:
I am about to have open heart surgery what should i expect?
A: A lot of open heart surgery patients can be home in 4 days! It depends significantly on the patient, how many grafts are needed, and any other health problems the patient may have. Patients that are diabetic, have lung problems or kidney problems may take a bit longer to recover just because of these complications. A lot of hospitals will have you come in before the surgery for some education - to explain the procedure itself, perform some laboratory and lung function tests, and to discuss some presurgery preparation they may want you to do in advance. The requirements have changed a lot - but I remember having to shampoo my hair 3 times with Iodine! They don''t make...

Q:
What Is open heart surgery?
A: open heart surgery refers to a method of approaching the heart for surgery, instead of a single type of surgery. In an open heart procedure, the chest is opened via incision, the sternum is broken, and a separator is used to create a wide cavity around the heart, providing needed access. Surgeries employing this technique are also associated with using a heart lung bypass machine to support circulation. Actual procedures performed have great variance and don’t always involve penetrating the structures of the main

Q:
Is fat acceptable after undergoing open-heart surgery (for 13 yes old)?
A: fat is never acceptable...add more details to this question Fat isn''t acceptable for any age. It is bad for every part of your body!!! NO, it''s not. Fat lining the arteries are the beginning stages of heart disease from too much fried food, dairy products and packaged foods. People forgot how to eat. Why wouldn''t it be? Having open-heart surgery makes it kind of difficult to exercise, right? If you''re concerned about this 13-year-old person''s weight, talk to the cardiologist and see if he/she recommends a special diet or OK''s exercise. excess fat is the most likely cause WHY you got the heart operation, but some fat is in fact necessary in order to be healthy...

Q:
How dangerous is bypass heart, open heart, surgery?
A: Having gone through two lots of open heart surgery (and I''m only just about to turn 21) I can honestly say that it is the best thing that I could have done. Without it I might not be here now writing this. It is more dangerous than the simpler operations (e.g. tonsilectomy etc.) but with all operations no matter how small and insignificant they may seem there is always a risk. During open heart surgery they stop your heart while they work and put you on a bypass machine. There is always the chance that your heart won''t start up again once you are taken off the bypass. It''s normal to be...

Q:
Has anyone in the medical field watched a open heart surgery?
A: I''ve been able to watch a bypass surgery and a valve replacement. I see heart catheterizations and stenting daily. I think it is incredible and so interesting rather than boring. So amazing what can be done medically/surgically. i''ve seen a few cardiac surgeries. they all were boring and quite tedious, one of them lasted most of the day. Cardiac bypass. Kinda boring surgery to watch. after the anesthesiologist got the patient hooked up to the heart/lung machine, the other surgeons got the graft from the leg, the cardiac surgeon waltzed in like he thought he was God. He did the bypass in about 15minutes or so, ended with a flourish and left the other surgeons to close. I hope I never need...
