Q:
pain in right upper back, neck and shoulders
A: Follow-up: Jayne, I would suggest that you not wait to see the chiropractor, rather explore working with the physio and chiropractor at the same time. The separate treatments can be very complimentary especially when both healthcare providers are working in conjunction to ease your pain. And yes, please feel free to follow-up with me if you feel the need. Good Luck... Dr. Leatherman
Dear Jayne,
Well, I am assuming that you are writing from the UK because of the terminology you are utilizing...is that correct?
The fact that you have been experiencing these problems for 18 months is definitely an indication that you are in chronic pain, and the physio is correct that it will be harder to correct.

Q:
What is the best over-the-counter pain reliever for upper back pain?
A: While there are several over-the-counter pain medications such as ibuprofen, naproxen, and Tylenol, a persistent sharp stabbing pain is a reason to consult with your physician. Self treating this type of pain may actually mask a more serious problem that requires evaluation. The best recommendation is for you to consult with your physician right away before taking over-the-counter pain relievers. Leslie Ako-Mbo, PharmD...

Q:
right upper back pain/ache with difficulty breathing
A: Hi Jim,
Try this, take your left pointer finger and go between the ribs on your left side. Press in deeply and slide along the muscles between the ribs. If you find a point that is tender, put your finger tip into it and press hard, directly on the point of pain. After holding it for 60 seconds, continue holding it and take a very long and slow deep breath.
Do this in several places along your ribs, working your way all the way up to under your arm, just in front of your shoulder blade.
Also, please send me an email through my website (http://www.julstro.com) reminding me that I want to send you the new CTS DVD that I"m filming today. It"s going to show you how to use the Julstro Tool that you received with the System, so you can...

Q:
I have had terrible tightness in my right upper back ever since my auto accident in 1990
A: It certainly sounds like you have a disk problem in your back. If an epidural did not work I would suggest either physical therapy to mechanically stretch the spine or a Chiropractor. By stretching the spine you relieve the pressure on the nerve roots and the spasms and pain should stop. This will not be a one time trip to either place. It will require repeat visits until the symptoms are gone....

Q:
i have back pain in my upper back near my right shoulder blade. its been constantly hurting for the past 8 months everysingle day almost. I have been having to take advil for it. it helps temporarily. i dont know what the problem is. idont work out much
A: Hello and sorry for the late reply. Hope your symptoms have improved by now. You may be having a nervecompression at the cervical (neck) level. The nerve compression could be due to an osteophyte, growth or adisc. This could be causing the odd sensation in the scapular area. A neurological examination by your primarycare physician may confirm this. He may then ask for an MRI to find out what is causing the compression. Thisis usually treated conservatively (without surgery). Please consult your primary care physician for furtherevaluation....

Q:
Im getting a sharp pain in my upper back when i breathe?
A: Sounds like you need to be adjusted.Go to a chiropractor, you''ll feel relief instantly.I''m a hairstylist, these systems happen to me often pneumonia, costochondritis, pulmonary embolus? it could be a twisted nerve....try relaxing....a hot shower or a massage might be of some help all it is is gas take some Phillips or Rolaids drink plenty of water you''ll feel better pull the knife out You may have a collapsed lung (spontaneous pneumo-thorax). Usually not a TERRIBLE deal, unless you wait too long to get treatment and it won''t re-inflate...like mine did. OW! Could also be pleuresy, which I had off and on for about a year after the collapsed lung. Better get it checked out just to be safe. Good luck! Ummm. Not unless you consider your lungs unimportant. See a doctor, you might have either...
