A: Hi Alyssa Thanks for your inquiry. It"s a pleasure to help and I hope the following is beneficial. PNF stretching is one of the most effective forms of stretching for the splits. You can find more detailed information about how to perform PNF stretches at the link below... http://www.thestretchinghandbook.com/archives/pnf-stretching.php And make sure you concentrate on all the muscles around the groin, not just the groin: Hamstrings; Quads; Adductors; Hips; Buttocks; Lower Back; and even the calf muscles. Q:

Upper arm pain when stretch

A: Dear Don, There could be various issues going on at your shoulder.  You could have strained the shoulder or may have slight dislocation depending on examination.  The AC joint around the shoulder may be affected.  My recommendation is to seek consultation with a chiropractor to really know the root of the pain.  Once known, management plan would be appropriate in treating your condition....

Q:

Big Toe pain when stretching Leg and Foot

A: Especially as you should be privy to but have said nothing more about the nature of the injury which you supposed elicited the problem, that might be the starting point in understanding your situation. The next logical step would be an actual physical examination. Lacking that most important capability, there is little definitive and meaningful advice which can be offered upon which you might reasonably act. Owing to your spelling of "colour" you may not be living in the U.S., and I do not know the general quality of podiatric care which can be expected in whatever location you might be. But, if I can offer an answer as if you were in the U.S., clearly most GP''s would not have the slightest clue as to the nature and treatment of your problem, and in most, if not all States...

Q:

What Causes Knee pain when Running?

A: There are a variety of potential causes of knee pain when running, although most are caused by overuse. If the quadriceps muscles are weak, for example, this can also cause the patella to track abnormally and result in pain. The iliotibial (IT) band, which runs down the outer leg, is another source of knee pain, especially if it is too tight. Other causes of knee pain when running include patella tendonitis, an inflamed plica, and an impinged fat pad.. In many cases, knee pain when running is the result of overuse. Runners who increase mileage too quickly are at risk from this sort of injury...

What Could Be Causing pain when My Toes Are Spreading?

A: It''s possible you damaged some nerves while walking/running etc. Perhaps your shoes are to tight and do not fit correctly. Diabetes can have a large impact on feet and toes as can gout. Damaged back or leg nerves can generate pain in the foot region. There are actually close to 400 causes of this type of pain. There are many foot ailments that could be to blame. Depending on your age, it could be arthritis beginning to set in. If you are over 40 I would consider this, especially if it goes away intermittently. Common reasons for pain are soft growths in the foot usually benign, tendons in the foot can over-stretch, and Morton''s neuroma causes thickening in a large nerve in the foot and it takes up space in the...

Q:

Arm pain when reaching

A: Hello and welcome to eHealth Forum! when you stretched a lot to switch off the bedroom light, it appears you have injured a number of muscles such as pectoralis or chest muscle, scalene or shoulder muscle, rotator cuff of the shoulder and maybe biceps and triceps. It could also be a nerve injury in the armpit called brachial plexus. Since you do not have any pressure points, you will have to wait for the orthopedic consultation. A chiropractor can help you determine the pressure points. By now you would have got your X-ray and CT scan so would have a clear picture regarding your lung problem. Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please discuss this with your s doctor once. Hope this helps. Take care!...

Hip/Groin pain when I go from sitting to standing position

A: Have you found any answers to this question?  I have been having the same problem for the past week.  It sounds exactly the same -- pain in the groin, hip and upper buttock for the first few steps when I stand up. Went to the doc and was told it was tendinitis. Prescribed meds. But to be honest, it isn''t any better today than it was. May go back to the doc. I have had this problem for years and have been through the ringer about this with many doctors and they all tell me it is sciatica nerve. I have been through years of tests and doctors tell me I have to live with it. It has caused me to lose my jobs, I walk with a cane most of the time now. I am practically disabled from this problem and my life...

Q:

Chest, lung, shoulder pain when taking deep breath?

A: I''m not sure if this is it, but it may be one possibility. I''m 23 and when I was 18-19, I had a lung collapse 2 times. Similar pains. The chest x-ray may have come up fine, but they also could have missed it. First time it happened to me, they said the x-ray was fine and I had a pulled muscle in my chest. Called me back a few days later to say the local hospital reviewed the x-ray again and determined otherwise. I had trouble taking deep breaths, pain in my upper left chest, lower back primarily (my left lung had collapsed). The first time they let it heal on it''s own b/c it collapsed only 15%. 2 months later, it happened again and went down 40% so I went in the hospital and got a chest tube for a week. After all...
