Q:

I take 75mg of plavix per day. Will protonix have an affect on the plavix like prilosec or nexium?

A: Interactions between your selected drugs Hello, Monitor major omeprazole ↔ clopidogrel Applies to: Prilosec (omeprazole), Plavix (clopidogrel) GENERALLY AVOID: Coadministration with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) may reduce the cardioprotective effects of clopidogrel. The proposed mechanism is PPI inhibition of the CYP450 2C19-mediated metabolic bioactivation of clopidogrel. This is consistent with studies that reported decreased effectiveness of clopidogrel and poorer clinical outcome in patients who have common genetic polymorphisms of CYP450 2C19 resulting in reduced or absent enzyme activity. In a population-based nested case-control study among patients aged 66 years or older who started clopidogrel after...

Q:

Gas, vomitting, diaharra, nausea, chilaiditi syndrome?

A: 14 Sep 2011 Wow - sounds like a real mess. I have no experience with chilaiditi, but I would recommend you see a specialist rather than your GP who has no experience with this. Large hospitals, teaching hospitals such as Hopkins, Mayo Clinic, University Hospitals - tertiary medical hospitals are where you find doctors who are experienced with the more rare disorders. It may be a long drive, but hopefully they can see you for a consult and provide enough direction that your GP can handle it from there. Take ALL your records, films, hospital reports, lab test results, etc so they have everything they need. Also, you might try taking a small amount of apple cider vinegar (3 parts water to one part vinegar) to help reduce the acid in your stomach. It has helped me some with reflux. Just my...

Q:

Has anyone experienced shortness of breath and doctors did not know why?

A: 31 Oct 2011 I have often experienced shortness of breath and the doc''s were uncertain as to why. In fact it''s been happening lately. But in my case it''s likely to be something heart related. Unless you have some other things going on, you better sit down and read every side effect you can get from Prilosec. However, I''m been taking it a lot longer than you and it didn''t do that to me. But we are al different. Votes:+0CommentVote upReport AquariusAnneCA 31 Oct 2011I have had several heart tests including the nuclear heart scanning similar to a cat scan with the works. No problems with the heart. As the days go by without the omeprazole, I also do not have neusea in the morning and now I can do some walking without the breathing problem. I do get the heartburn and discomfort of the GERD...

Q:

Neuralgia - Why is it that my doctors have been so demeaning and passed the buck about my pain?

A: 27 Dec 2011 Hey heavyweather, Expand this post... Welcome to the nightmare world of pain. Hopefully it won''t be so chronic for you. Opiate or narcotic abuse is a problem in our society and it always has been. Opiates do many things for many people, including helping with mental and emotional pain as well as other disorders. My doc recently told me opiates do all kinds of things, but only their ability to relieve physical pain and cause addiction has been studied scientifically. Thanks to an infamous president in the 1970''s we have a watchdog government agency that wants everyone off narcotics pain or not. This agency makes things difficult for docs who are willing to prescribe opiates for pain. This is why you were hit with the attitudes you got. Apparently that office gets many opiate...

Q:

What causes too much stomach acid and how to deal with it?

A: A lot of factors may increase your acid output, but stress is the most common. So relax, ok? Beeeeeer....take Gaviscon tablets. to drink alkaline neutralise i had trouble with acid it turned out i had gall stones, if the problem pesists get it checked out. Gaviscon! It rocks... too much beer, stress, jumping up and down - but get some Gavi down your neck and all will be well with the world again. Basically its caused by what you eat/drink(Alcohol excess for example)-the combination of foods-how stressed you may be, possible allergies or conditions-such as ulcers I think. I have IBS, and often suffer from excess acid etc-so take liquid remedies - Asilone or milk of magnesia liquid-which are more effective than chewable ones-because chewing also means you swallow air-which can give you wind...

Q:

What Are the Different Types of Gastritis Treatment?

A: Gastritis treatment varies depending on what is causing it. Some common treatments for many different types of gastritis include antibiotics, proton pump inhibitors, and antacids. Acid-blocking medications are also frequently used for gastritis treatment. Many of these medicines are available only by prescription, while some others may be purchased over the counter. Doctors usually suggest changes in diet and lifestyle in addition to prescribing medication for both the treatment of gastritis and to prevent future problems with it. Antibiotics are the usual form of gastritis treatment when the root cause of the illness is H. pylori bacteria, or Helicobacter pylori. This bacteria can pass easily from one person to...
