Q:
What is rapid hiv testing?
A: rapid hiv testing is considered a significant improvement in helping to detect, treat and hopefully prevent hiv. When the first hiv tests became available, one main issue involved with them was the time it took to get results. People who took the tests had to have a brief counseling session when they were tested, and then needed to return to the lab, clinic or doctor’s office where they received the test to hear the results. This could take several days, and there were a high percentage of people, over 10% who never returned to get their results. The medical community...

Q:
rapid hiv testing accuracy
A: Hello Angela,
hiv testing is thought to be pretty accurate, for the time period of 3 months prior to the actual test. hiv sometimes requires as much as 3 months to generate enough of your body"s antibody to cause the test to be reactive (positive). The rapid tests are essentially as accurate as standard ELISA tests. The major difference is that if the ELISA is reactive, it can be further tested to confirm actual infection, whereas the rapid tests will require another blood draw. Most people who develop

Q:
Hi i just took a rapid hiv test the one that takes 20 minutes and i actually took it at the 3 month mark of my possibleexposure to hiv. I was wondering if it was ok since i have not gotten any symptoms so far except a slight sore throatlasting no more t
A: Hi,hiv can be transmitted by oral sex even if there are no cuts however chances of spread are less. You can onlybe sure if you get a test 6 months after the exposure, so this test has to be repeated after 3 more months.Flu- like illness is reported in cases within first 1-2 months of exposure but this is rather non specific.Hope this helps. Take care. For more information visit-- http://www.aidsinfo.nih.gov/...

Q:
Is a rapid hiv test accurate at 73 days(10 weeks) after possible hiv exposure?
A: 73 days is pretty close to being conclusive. With current hiv tests, the only people that really need to test at 6 months are cancer patients on chemo, people with severely depressed immune systems due to other illnesses, people recovering from organ transplants, etc. Three months is generally considered conclusive, so you might want to test again in a couple weeks just to be sure....

A: i don''t have hiv test. maybe you can ask hiv people at this STD dating site stdromance.com for more info. Hello there, I am confused as i don''t know if your are confused about how quickly the actual hiv test was. Or if your have to wait 3 months for an accurate result? I like you have done some stupid things in the past when it comes to protective sex, mainly due to alcohol. Even though this is no excuse, i should have known better and used protection! So I''m not going to lecture you! I just hope you have learnt your lesson just as i have!! The actual blood test for hiv generally takes 2-7 days to process and for...

Q:
Anyone who has had an hiv test..?
A: its just a blood test....but its not common to get it from a guy so dont freak until you know if you do or not.... For the record I have been knowingly hiv positive since July ‘05. Q:”What do they do, and how long does it take for the results to come in?” A: Go to a cdc (center for disease control) found in a health department for free anonymous testing. Either call and schedule a testing time or go in and wait. As far as the time it varies due to how far they must send off the sample or if they do the testing on site. Where I live it’s relatively slow, about two weeks. Q:”How do you deal with the fear?” A: Not knowing whether or not you have an STD or may be...

Q:
Donated blood; hiv test?
A: It''s a fairly accurate test. It''s possible that she got a false positive, but more likely that she has hiv. She needs to go get retested now. The sooner she gets on a good medication schedule the better and longer her life is likely to be. Go with your friend to a clinic and have her take a rapid hiv test. Convince her it is better finding the truth in 20 minutes than to let a cloud of doubt control her life. Hope it works out in her favor. very, its rare that theres a false positive especially from a blood bank. She needs to go get checked out before something happens to her and before she has another partener. It will benefit her greatly...

Q:
hiv test negative?
A: Be positive! It can take up to 7 years for your body to show signs but it usually will only take about 4. if u had intercourse with an infected person then you have a 100% chance of getting it! And as far as your blood signs are showing itself negative you ain''t gotta worry! Normally as soon as the virus enters the body blood tests will show positive within an hour or it depends with the viruses multiplying rate. I think you are safe. Hi there, There is a "window period" which is the time it takes the body to produce antibodies after hiv infection has begun. For the vast majority of those who will test positive, antibodies to hiv will develop within 4-6 weeks after exposure. Some...
