Q:

Is it possible that I had a ruptured ovarian cyst last year- and had notreatment for it?If yes, what are thecomplications?

A: Hi Madam, ovarian cysts are usually painless and sited during routine ultrasounds but ruptured cyst may causesevere pain during periods, particularly before or at the time of end of the cycle, pain during sexualintercourse, and pain in the abdomen. In addition, one may experience irregular menstrual cycle, which mightbe shorter or longer than the normal cycle, if it was a ruptured cyst. These cysts may also cause excessivebleeding and/or tiny bleeding that can occur throughout the cycle similar to the bleeding you are experiencingafter your periods. If untreated, ruptured cyst in few cases may cause infection and hemorrhage which can leadto...
Q:

ruptured ovarian Cyst

A: Hi, It is quite unlikely to predict any single most common reason of rupture of ovarian cyst. Usually cystruptures by its own during menstruation or excessive bending over through stomach. It will be best that sheconsults a gynecologist to know the exact reason of rupture and future fertility concern since her doctor hasaccess to her all medical records. Hope this helps....
Q:

I think I have a ruptured ovarian cyst. Its been hurting on my left side andradiating down my thiegh and butt. Its hurtfor 4 days, and I get nauseous fromthe pain. Naproxen seems to help.I just had a gush of clear fluid, is thisnormal?Orpossibly a sympt

A: Hi,Left-sided pain could be due to several reasons such as ovarian cysts, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatorydisease, tubal pregnancy, kidney and bladder infections, abdominal conditions such as tumors, abscesses, infections etc. Rupture of a cyst may cause severe pain, nausea, vomiting and bleeding from the vagina. Iwould advise caution while using painkillers without knowing the exact cause as they can cause serious sideeffects. The clear fluid could be normal vaginal discharge or the sign of an infection. It is best to see adoctor to determine the exact cause, especially since the pain is severe. Hope this helps. Take care....

Q:

How serious is a ruptured ovarian cyst?

A: You sound very concerned about your daughter. Distance can make that so much harder. The following website has a lot of information about all kinds of ovarian cysts, treatments, etc. but it’s important to remember that a website is not a substitute for a doctor’s specific evaluation and sites contains information that do not necessarily apply to your daughter or her specific health situation. http://mayoclinic.com/health/ovarian-cysts/DS00129 She sounds like she has obtained appropriate follow up and laboratory /MRI evaluations as well as the involvement of her ob-gyn doctor. Finding out the types of cyst and making decisions for follow up will be the next step. Additionally, if...

Q:

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome - Has anyone had a ruptured ovarian cyst that has caused internal bleeding

A: 29 Jul 2011 Yes. I suffered this problem many years ago, & after 2 years of PID, with bleeding, infection, & antibiotics not touching the problem I had to have a complete hystectomy. I had 3 surgeries leading up to the final one, & it was a big decision to have this done. Since this was so many years ago,( about 43 ) I am sure there are newer solutions. I was full of infection , & was only given a 40% chance of making it thru the surgery, but (duh!) did survive. I sincerely hope they can find an easier solution for you... Q:

are there any long term side effects of topamax? for example ruptured ovarian cysts?

A: Hi Erika,   I don''t think there are studies done on the long term effects of Topamax. I did a bit of research on topamax and didn''t find anything specific on ''ovarian cysts.'' However, a small percentage of women may experience mentstrual issues such as amenorrhea(no period) and Menorrhagia (heavy period.) We have information on topamax HERE.   Are you getting fewer Migraines? Current thinking is if we get more than three Migraine attacks a month, we need to be on preventive medication. In your case, if you are getting more than three, a discussion with your doctor is in order to re-evaluate topamax and find a new preventive medication.   Don''t lose hope. There are over 100 medications used to...
Q:
