Q:

what do we tell him?

A: Mutti, This would be a difficult problem to deal with even if your 87 Y/O father didn''t have Alzheimer''s.  I feel sorry for him and for you, since this issue will need to be addressed.  Your father is aware that the dog is missing.  There is a limit to how long that you can hide the truth from him.  I suppose that you could try telling him that someone else is going to take care of the dog until he is well enough to do it himself.  That could be a problem and create some trust issues between him and you later, however.    Here is what I would do.  I would pick a nice sunny morning after breakfast when he is alert and break the news to him as gently as...

Makeup: I know you dread it. I do sometimes too. if you just add a little lip gloss tht can make a BIG difference. it`s not hard or anything to put on. maybe a little eyeshadow (it`s optional) maybe some black or gray from dollar general. tht goes with everything. dont but on too much makeup, or else you`ll look fake. Hair: there is stuff for frizz. you can try bedhead control freak. it might help.maybe. dont try to hide your natural waves. try after you take a shower or bath to brush and dry your hair before you go to

Q:

teenagers

A: Hi Liz, Thanks for your question.  It is a question which could take a book to answer.  However I will try to be brief. I think that magazines, films, and television send the WRONG messages to teenage girls. There is an aspect of current culture that extols the virtues of discontent.  Discontent with body shape, clothes, accessories, hair colour and length - in fact almost everything.  There is also too much concentration on the sexual exploits of film stars, pop stars and footballers. Every woman "must" be slim, big breasted, have perfectly coloured hair and have long legs.  If they aren"t, girls are encouraged to do something about it - go on diets, have plastic surgery, continually to change their...

Q:

Getting rid of lice?

A: You need to continue the RID lice shampoo treatments exactly as it says on the box, including repeating the treatment every 10 days. Also, as a little tip, free of charge, giggle, people with the cleanest hair tend to get the lice the easiest. If you wash your gal''s hair every day, then change it to every other day. Put a little hairspray on her hair, keep her hair in a pony tail, or ''angle wings'' (two pony tails). If you live in the US your school should be required to check for lice if you report it to the NURSE. Also, they should not let your daughter back in to school if she even has as much as one nit in her hair. Lice is very common. Most people think of it as a ''dirty'' bug, but actually the cleaner the kid, the more common the lice. You must follow the directions on the RID...

Q:

HOW DO I REPAIR MY HAIR!!!?

A: try hair oil; it really works! put it on at nite before bed and wake up and shampoo it off. usually coconut hair oil works the best but try others to suit ur hair A few years ago I fried my hair after too much colouring. I started using Elvive shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair and I also put olive oil on once a week and left it overnight and in the morning washed it off. I had my hair trimmed every few weeks and eventually my hair returned to normal but it may take a few months. I now use Manuka Honey Shampoo and conditioner which is great and I use Aussie Reconstruction conditioner once a week. Use Hair Serum like John Frieda''s Frizz ease as this helps alot and wear your hair up if its long enough. Buy lots of pretty scrunchies and hair accessories. My...

Q:

Have I forgotten anything for summer camp?

A: That is way too much stuff for a 5 day camp! Your camp should have given you a packing list, pack off of that. I''m not sure what type of activities you are doing but unless they said you need "office supplies" you don''t need them. Maybe bring a pen, pencil and paper. Also if you are living outside (cabin, tent, etc) you don''t need make- up, hair stuff beyond hair ties and a brush. I personally think that you should probably re- think everything you are bring, you are living home for less then a week not a year!...

Q:

Extreme Chest Pain (left side) and Left Arm Tightness

A: Hello - First, thanks for your detailed and comprehensive post. While there are things in it that would naturally be suggestive of a heart problem, that seems to have been ruled out -- for now. Since you have a history of elevated cholesterol and a family history of early heart disease, I would suggest you restart the Lipitor at once, as that is one of several things you have working in your favor (your lipid reduction was typically dramatic, and that''s how you want it to stay). As for the symptoms, they are somewhat different from most panic attacks in that they mimic more accurately a "real" heart attack -- almost to a fault, actually. The fact that the pain is felt over your left chest would lessen...

Q:

Feeling of pressure on the left side of chest and..

A: Hello there - OK, let''s see. You were having trouble breathing and responded well to what we''ll assume was a puff or two of albuterol. You have a family history of asthma and the doctor prescribed a bronchodilating inhaler for you, which seems to be working. I hate to be sarcastic about your doctor, who may have been splitting some semantic hairs, but it would seem you do have asthma, at least according to everything you''ve written here. Of course there are other problems which can cause bronchoconstriction, but essentially that''s asthma, even if it is secondary to some other problem. It really sounds like that''s one part of your collection of things, and the rest certainly fit in well with the diagnosis of...
