Q:
what causes a bout of tinnitus?
A: Possibly a parasite in the ear. Nobody knows. It varies with every person. Doctors seem to be baffled about what causes it. Have you been subject to very loud prolonged noise pollution recently? In the work place or near an air port for instance? :-/ @Kraken I''m not looking for speculation, I''m looking for a theory. @YARNLADY Thanks. Do you know of any theories that have been proposed? @Scooby No, but I have been to some very loud rock concerts over the last few years that have given me temporary damage the following day. I have no doubt that this has caused it for me, but I want to know what causes the ringing to happen some times and not others. Thankfully it is...

Q:
what are the health risks of minimal yet constant air conditioning noise pollution?
A: noise induced hearing loss can be a problem and especially if you get to the point that you don’t even realize the noise exists any more. Although it could be trouble, I suspect once you go inside your home you may not hear his AC so much. However, if your home windows are open most of the time and you are continuously hearing it you may consider how loud it is. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association says anything at 80 decibels in sound for a length of time can be damaging. It’s not so much the volume as it is a prolonged repetition of the volume that seems to cause the problem. I was surprised to read on their website that your alarm clock might be 80db! I never thought of something of that volume being potentially hazardous but...

Q:
what causes A Heart Murmur?
A: Heart murmur are caused by turbulent flow of blood across heart valves or abnormal openings within the heart. These can be congential (born with) or acquired. Acquired heart vavle problems can be due to infective endocarditis, ischemic heart disease, heart failure or sometimes due to diseases of lung or liver. Commonest congential malformation is septal defects. A heart murmur occurs when blood flow through the heart is uneven. Some causes are genetic defects, past infections that affect the heart, past rheumatic fever, or defects in valves. Normally it is caused by blood passing through a constricted opening or passing over a roughened mitral valve caused by rheumatic fever. Also caused by an interventicular septal defect. A heart murmur is caused by blood flowing...

Q:
what are Neighborhood crime and noise pollution kinds of?
A: ther it is the roar of a jet plane overhead or the sound of a barking dog a block away. The actual loudness of a sound is only one component of the effect it has on human beings. Other factors to consider are the time and place, the duration, the source of the sound, and whether the listener has any control over it. Most people would not be bothered by the sound of a 21-gun salute on a special occasion. On the other hand, the thump-thump of a neighbour''s music at 2 a.m., even if barely audible, could be a major source of stress.
Measuring Sound by Decibel (dB)
The decibel (dB) is a measure of sound intensity; that is, the magnitude of the fluctuations in air pressure caused by sound waves. The decibel scale is logarithmic, not arithmetic. This means that a doubling of sound...

Q:
Too much environmental noise pollution and health infection freedom is a good or bad thing?
A: For me, it comes down to right and wrong. Doing what we KNOW is right and being considerate of others. We all know what causes pollution, I think we should do everything in our individual power to help reduce it- including not driving a beater down the street fogging the neighborhood. We all know that being loud in a library is rude, and we all know sneezing or knowingly showing up sick is just bad manners and could even be dangerous to some people. I think what's changed is that people have become progressively selfish and good old-fashioned common sense and thoughtfulness have fallen by the wayside....

Q:
Effects of noise Pollution to our health?
A: "Principal noise health effects are both health and behavioral in nature. The following discussion refers to sound levels that are present within 30 to 150 meters from a moderately busy highway. Hearing The mechanism for chronic exposure to noise leading to hearing loss is well established. The elevated sound levels cause trauma to the cochlear structure in the inner ear, which gives rise to irreversible hearing loss. The pinna (visible portion of the human ear) combined with the middle ear amplifies sound levels by a factor of 20 when sound reaches the inner ear. In Rosen's seminal work on serious health effects regarding hearing loss and coronary artery disease, one of his findings derived from tracking Maaban tribesmen, who...

Q:
what is Ambient noise?
A: Ambient noise is background noise which is always present. The nature and level of ambient noise can vary considerably, sometimes turning into a distraction or a nuisance. Sound meters are used to establish ambient noise levels for the purpose of researching ambient noise and addressing specific complaints about background noise. This type of noise can take a wide variety of forms. For urban dwellers, for example, ambient noise might include cars, horns, construction, trains, aircraft, and voices. In rural regions, the sounds of farm animals, wildlife, wind in the trees, and tractors might be...

Q:
noise = Relaxation?
A: Hard to say.... He''ll probably grow out of it, but definitely ask your pediatrician what she/he thinks next time you''re in the office. I wouldn''t worry about it in the mean time. Kids go through so many weird phases and no two are the same. Babies love noise like the vacuum cleaner because apparently the uterus is a very noisy place with all that blood and fluid racing by their ears. Although your child is older, he may still find the noise comforting and soothing. I don''t think it''s that weird, and I wouldn''t worry about it unless it''s causing major problems. He may be anxious and unable to still himself. Why not try to do some exercises with him, explaining you need only a DVD/Video on so you can hear...
