Q:
what cause's pink eye?
A: Pink eye or viral conjunctivitis (looking pink rather than red), is the swelling of the membrane that covers the white part of the eye. Sometimes a substance in the environment can irritate the eyes and cause pinkeye; for example, chemicals (such as chlorine and soaps) and air pollutants can cause pinkeye. The cause of pink eye is commonly a bacterial or viral infection, an allergic reaction or — in newborns — an incompletely opened tear duct. To pinpoint the cause of pinkeye and then choose an appropriate treatment, please visit your eye doctor....

Q:
what can I buy at the pharmacy to treat pinkeye?
A: Pinkeye is another term for conjunctivitis. It has many different causes, including a bacterial or viral infection, an allergic reaction, or, in newborns, an incompletely opened tear duct. Because of all these possible causes, there is not just one treatment. Although pinkeye can sometimes go away by itself, there can be inflammation that affects vision. It''s important to consult with a doctor to determine the cause of the pinkeye and get appropriate treatment. Kristen Dore, PharmD...

Q:
Was it wrong to take my 1 year old daughter out to eat tonight even though she has pinkeye?
A: As long as she was just with your family I don''t see what the big deal is. If she was with a bunch of other people/extended family and being passed around that would be different. Especially if you didn''t tell anyone she had it. My daughter had pink eye several times when she was younger and my son has had it once. I have never had it. Yes it is contagious if you are wiping her eyes or nose and then rubbing your eyes, but if you practice good hygiene you should not get it. Pinkeye is spread through contact with the eye drainage, which contains the virus or bacteria that caused the pinkeye. You cannot catch it by just being near someone who has it. After 24 hours of antibiotic therapy, a person is no longer considered contagious when they have pinkeye. If your...

Q:
what is Conjunctivitis?
A: Conjunctivitis is more commonly referred to as pinkeye. In conjunctivitis, the material covering the white part of the eye and lining the inner parts of the eyelid, called the conjunctiva, becomes inflamed. This inflammation results in excessive tearing, pain, and itchiness.. Conjunctivitis is most commonly caused by viral infection. It may also be caused by bacterial infection or allergies. There are rare causal factors in newborns and three to four week old infants.. In addition to tearing, those with conjunctivitis may find that their eyes excrete white or yellowish fluid. A person with conjunctivitis may find that upon waking in the morning, his or her eyelashes have stuck together because of this fluid. The white part of the eye will seem red or pink, hence the term pinkeye.. Viral...

Q:
Do I have pinkeye? Eyes are a bit red, woke up really crusty and stuck together, but do not hurt. HELP!?
A: use eye Drops no matter whatt. use them NOW! i think it can be coz of over heat in your body.... take some cold items like tender coconut, dont mistake that ice creams and such items which are chill are cold items they are actually heat to your body....... better check with a doctor...... I think don''t take me personally but allergens stay out of the smokey bars and pot parties. your body is telling you something. If you had pinkeye, it would itch. Your eyelids would also be slightly swolen. Crust and eye redness has nothing to do with Pink-Eye! Pink eye is not Eyeball related, but Eyelid related. sounds like allergies usualy pink eye dosent hurt but your eye needs to be pretty red for you to have pink eye Pinkeye or conjunctiveitis as it is called, symptoms...

Q:
How do you cure pinkeye?
A: When I was a kid we used Boric Acid in the form of a salve. You might want to ask your pharmacist, but most people just go to the dr. for a scrip... go to the doctor and get medicated drops for pinkeye, keep cold compresses to make it feel better, keep from rubbing your eye to prevent infecting the other eye. put water on it or go to the docter and let them put ointment on it. works lke a charm (but dont rub it or it will get worse) Go to a doctor for eyedrops. My mom use to soak a washcloth in hot tea and put it over my eyes. It seemed to help. You don''t cure Pink Eye,you treat it. Pink Eye or Conjuctivitis is HIGHLY contagious. Don''t share your pillow with anyone, don''t share a wash rag or towel with anyone and ALWAYS wash your hands after touching your eye. Throw ALL tissues a trash...
