Q:

My 51 year old wife has profuse sweating at night so much as to have to change clothes what could cause this?

A: I would say , have her go to the doctor and get checked for Hypoglycemia(most likely), I am diabetic myself, and if my blood sugar level gets too low in the night, I sweat...BAD. That''s what hypoglycemia is, when your body produces too much insulin, and your blood sugar level goes down. It would happen at nighttime also, because it has been awhile since she had eaten anything to keep her blood sugar level up. Also, don;t be afraid because Hypoglycemia is fairly common, and easily managed. you probably have some type of heat disorder, from your symptms, it sounds like you have something wrongg wiht your hyplothalamus, its dangerous, can cause stroke ro a rash, try spending increasing amounts of time in heats, gradually, you should see an imprvent. stay away from...

Q:

what Is Gustatory sweating?

A: Gustatory sweating is a condition resulting from trauma or surgical removal of the parotid gland. The parotid gland is the largest saliva-producing structure in the mouth. Q:

what was the sweating sickness from the 16th century?

A: The Sweating Sickness Returns Anne Boleyn, although unable to survive her marriage to Henry VIII, was rumored to have resisted the onslaught of another sixteenth- century scourge: Sudor Anglicus, or English sweating sickness. The mysterious illness surfaced in England in the summer of 1485 and struck four times over the next century before disappearing. This frequently fatal disease caused fever, profuse sweating, headaches, and extreme shortness of breath. Death usually came quickly. It killed some within three hours, wrote one Tudor chronicler. Some within two hours, some merry at dinner and dead at supper. Medical historians have never known what caused the sweating sickness. That the disease was neither plague nor typhus was clear...

Q:

profuse sweating and Immune disorder

A: wvgal, Not really much to go on there with just ''profuse Sweating''. There must be some other symptoms too? Fatigue? Aches? Pains? Memory probs maybe? what types of test results? Do they show normal results? Th1 inflammation can cause heavy sweating (since the bacteria that cause it like to live in sweat glands as much as any other place). Dr. Marshall (on MP fame) had said that he had such bad sweating he had taken to wearing hiking undergarments that wick away sweat from the body -- and still was going thru a pair of pants every month -- they would just rot away. That''s what i would call sweatin! How bad are your husband''s symptoms ? Send a little more info this way ... jim Wvgal, I noticed on...

Q:

what caused my "torturous faint" spells?

A: Green, Firstly, I fully believe what you tell me. If I went around not believeing my patients all the time, I"d really be in trouble because they would never get treated accordingly. The symptoms you have listed have an innumerable list of problems that could be associated. You may have a cardiac defect, such as an occasional irregular rhythm, that causes your blood flow to decrease thereby causing many of the symptoms you have listed. When the brain becomes deprived of oxygen, which happens when blood flow is decreased, it can play any number of tricks on you; your heart rate can incerase to compensate, and it will palpitate. You will feel dizzy, restless, will sweat alot, and will be irritable. I know you mentioned you don"t feel dizzy,...
