Q:

what causes thinning Hair On A Yorkie?

A: thinning can be seasonal, particularly if your house is warm and dry- however, this is usually an indication of a nutritional or hormonal problem- I would consult the vet. This could be an allergy, a parasite or mite, or even Cushing''s disease, I would have him evaluated- chances are it is a situational problem and easily taken care of. This could be caused by an insufficient amount of protein in your Yorkie''s diet. Try switching to a better brand of food and their coat should improve. Also, limit the amount of ''people'' food they get. If your Dog''s hair is drastically getting thinner and is falling out in large chunks you should bring her to the Vet. Fleas can cause your dog to loose a lot of hair. Different types of allergies can also cause your dog to loose...

Q:

what could cause thin hair (hair loss) in a teenage male?

A: There are several possibilities for thinning hair or hair loss in a teenage male. It can be hereditary, for example. But it can also be due to hypothyroidism. Are there other symptoms, such as intolerance to cold, weight gain, and sleeping too much? It''s important to tell your physician about any of these symptoms along with the hair loss. Hypothyroidism can be life-threatening. Otherwise, how is your diet? Are you eating a balanced diet with healthy sources of protein and fat? How are you managing stress? Q:

what do you do if you have microscopic colitis that may be causing thinning hair?

A: Hi Mary Lee,   Are you taking an Rx medication for the MC like Asacol or Lialda or Colazal? If so, it''s most likely the Rx that is causing your hair to thin, it''s actually listed as one of the possible side effects. MC or UC doesn''t cause hair to thin. If it is the Rx there''s not a lot you can do. My hair has thinned since I started taking Asacol but I started with very thick hair so it''s not too big a problem. Also, as I''ve been able to decrease the dosage of the Asacol the thinning has decreased as well.   Talk to your doctor about possible other Rx options. For me, the benefit from the Asacol outweighed the thinning hair, but it''s a personal thing and we''re all different.   Good luck,...
Q:

Does Femera cause thin hair?

A: I''d say it''s probably some of both, Linda. Chemo definitely does a number on your hair; some women get a nice, full head of hair back again, while others find it comes back thinner. And aromatase inhibitors, such as Femara, do cause hair thinning in some women. Hopefully, once you''re done with the Femara, your hair will rebound somewhat, although it may never go back to what it was, unfortunately. I use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner, which seem to help. Good luck - PJH...
