Q:

My 10mnth old baby has rashes/scabies on her ears. how can I treat it?

A: 13 Sep 2011 There is presciption medication for that, but, since this is an infant, your reallyneed to take her to the dr, as not all rx''es are safe for babies. And, really, they are going to want to treat your whole family since scabies is HIGHLY contagious. There is also a routine as to how you clean up to get rid of them in her bed, so, I wish we could tell you what to use, but you and baby need the dr on this one. Q:

Am I being bitten by something?

A: go to the doctors If you are able to rule out insect bites conclusively, I would guess that what you are feeling is very real. It may be allergies, dry skin or some metabolic condition, possibly related to liver function. If for example there is some abnormality (genetically) waste products or byproducts of your normal metabolism may be getting deposited in the soft tissue of your body (skin). If your liver isn''t processing things properly, again it could mean waste products are being deposited in the body (skin). It''s possible it could be a nervous system condition. The bottomline is only a doctor can rule out the possibilities I mentioned. Rule out allergies, then go down the line. If you wind up with a big fat nothing, then go see a...

Q:

Symptoms, lupus, from concerned -male- (Long post...)

A: You should be evaluated by a rheumatologist- explain your concerns & would like to be evaluated for Lupus. Request a complete blood count, chem profile, and most importantly an ANA & dsDNA test. A positive ANA would lead to suspicion but not definite diagnosis & would warrant monitoring & possibly treatment if doc felt your other symptoms pointed to Lupus. A positive dsDNA would likely confirm Lupus. Hope this helps--best of luck. Matt, You mentioned that cuts and RASHES take a long time to heal. what kind of rashes do you get? I ask because there are lupus rashes OTHER than malar ( = facial butterfly). I have an intermediate "subset" of SLE called SCLE = subacute cutaneous LE. It''s systemic---symptoms can cover the whole SLE range---BUT...

Q:

A: Hi, Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am glad to help you out. From the description, it is difficult to confirm a diagnosis without physical examination but thereā??s a possibility of it being a localized urticaria. This is produced due to an allergic reaction which can be due to an insect bite, clothes, sun, water etc. Itā??s usually a self healing lesion and tends to go away within 24-48 hrs but using drugs like cetirizine helps in improving the symptoms and ensures a faster healing. However these antihistaminics should be used under medical supervision. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope...

SPD micro preemie

A: So sorry for the delay in my response.  My computer began randomly sending questions to my junk mail, so did not see your question until today!  So so very sorry!   The following is a questionnaire that you can print out and complete to determine if there is more going on than just SPD.  The great thing is that you have already been seeking and receiving support through an OT and ST!  The earlier the intervention the better the outcomes! EARLY CHILDHOOD/SCHOOL PARENT QUESTIONNAIRE Name of Child:  _____________________   Date of Birth: ________  Age: _______ Name of Referrer: __________________   Relationship to Child: ______________ Parent/Guardian: ______________________________________________________ ...
Q:

autism question

A: I am so very sorry for the delay!  For some reason my computer started sending things to junk mail without notice, so didn"t see your question until cleaning up junk mail this morning (Monday chores!).   For a 5 year old little boy with spectrumy issues that include running, I would start with a sensory evaluation.  If you do not have access to an OT trained in the area, you can start by printing out the questionnaire: EARLY CHILDHOOD/SCHOOL PARENT QUESTIONNAIRE Name of Child:  _____________________   Date of Birth: ________  Age: _______ Name of Referrer: __________________   Relationship to Child: ______________ Parent/Guardian: ______________________________________________________ ...
Q:

Extreme Nocturnal Itching

A: Since you aren''t seeing any improvement by eliminating the Lipitor, I expect that the problem is not that. I would think that the chemical would be completely gone from your body after 10 days. I suggest you contact a dermatologist. I can think of a number of possible causes, but since I''d only be guessing, I hesitate to mention them. You are not alone, since I have the exact same issue. My condition started more than three months ago with extreme nocturnal itching on the back of my legs and has progressed to my entire body, the chest, arms, pubic area, leg fronts, and stomach. Sleeping at night is practically impossible. My dermatologist was of no help, but my GP has ordered blood panels of the liver. I am not on any medications. From what I can tell from an...

Q:

I can't sleep. How can I cure insomnia? I don't want to take any sleeping pills.?

A: I know that my opinion might only be my opinion, but I sleep quite well, so I guess I''m qualified to answer this question. My answer to your question is that I have a sense of balance and I live one day at a time. This is what happens when I have such an attitude. It''s 2:11 a.m. right now and I am awake for the day until about 7:00 p.m. Yesterday is gone for good and my near future becomes my present. But at around 6:00 p.m., my day is over. It has ended and my future is not here yet. And so I put myself in the mindset that it''s time for me to get ready to go to sleep. I then turn the air down to lower my body temperature which is more conducive to sleep. Finally, I put on music on a 30-minute timer and I train my mind to sleep before the music ends. Other tools...

Q:

Tentative CFS diagnosis

A: Hello gknee, It sounds like CFS to me. I''ve been ill since 1980 after having the flu and still don''t have a diagnosis. I''ve been to at least 50 Drs. and the only test of which there has been many that was positive was the Epstein Barr Virus. I know what you mean about the rest and sleep--it really doesn''t help. I''ve been so bad at times that trying to take a shower was exhausting. I''m interested in what the Rheumatologist has to say. That''s the only type of Dr. that I haven''t seen. I''m going to my Primary Care Dr. soon and I will get some type of answer this time and if not, I want to see a Rheumatologist. The only medication that has ever helped me is Prednisone but they can''t tell me why it helps. This...
