Q:
what kinds of food do you eat if you are diabetic?
A: Okay, first of all, Type 1 diabetics can eat anything as long as they give a shot. Type 2 (which I''m guessing is what you''re talking about) diabetics have restrictions depending on what their doctors say. Just talk to your doctor and please say "type 2 diabetics" next time you ask a question about your diabetes, because I''m a Type 1 and get really angry when people say I can''t eat junk food/sugar. I can eat anything as long as I give insulin! I understand it was probably a mistake, I''m just letting you know. non-suger don''t eat...

Q:
what kind of foods can i eat or not eat if i am a diabetic?
A: Eat no sugar until you learn. Red meat, for example, is one of the food types that a diabetic patient is prohibited from taking. Instead, the diabetic food pyramid recommends fish or chicken to substitute for the same. But as well all know, food and chicken taste differently from red meat. Should the diabetic patient forget about red meat for the rest of his or her life? Not necessarily. Soy meat, or tofu, is often used as an alternative for meat. Though there are differences in taste, the aftertaste of tofu comes close to the aftertaste of...

Q:
I just had blood work done recently before having surgery. I was told that my potassium level is low. what kinds of foods should I eat to bring up my level, without raising by blood sugar level. I have type 2 diabetes.
A: Tomatoes, beet greens and spinach, as well as other dark, leafy greens are some high potassium foods which will have little if any impact on your blood glucose levels. Other high potassium foods such as bananas, oranges, sweet potatoes, soybeans, dried beans, winter squash and potatoes can be worked into your meal plan as well. If you need help adding these into your meal plan, I would suggest visiting with a Registered Dietician to help you plan out meals that can work for you. If this doesn?t remedy your situation, your doctor may want to prescribe a potassium supplement as well. Anne Carroll, RN, CDE Financial Disclosure...

Q:
what kinds of food can diabetics not eat?
A: Simple carbohydrates (simple sugars) are the worst type of foods for diabetics. They stimulate rapid spikes in blood glucose levels and promote end-organ damage more rapidly (to kidneys, eyes, and long tract nerves - especially to the lower extremities, with the feet being the most easily affected). Q:
what kind of foods to stay away from when you have diabetes?
A: The obvious answer is sugar!! the obscure answer is anything that is high in sugar content. If one is trying to control diabetes type 2 with diet and exercise plan, they should avoid any type of grain or cereal, anything that is white, yellow or tan. That leaves protein foods like beef, lamb, chicken, turkey, fish etc. Cheese is a neutral food as are lettuce and celery. Dark green leafy veggies and tomatoes. Also most milk products cause high glucose problems other than cheese. Everyone keeps telling us to avoid fatty foods, but fats slow down the digestion of carbohydrate foods, so no, don''t go fat free. Fats also help you to feel full....

Q:
My mother was just diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes. We were wondering what types of foods she can eat. Help!?
A: The best advice I can give you is lots of vegetables with some whole grains, some fruits, and some chicken or fish. Avoid sugar of any kind including high fructose corn syrup. Keep carbs low. More in the book I mention on my diabetes info page: http://www.geocities.com/seabulls69/Type_II_Diabetes.html ask her doctor for a referral to a dietician. They are experts on this. Your best bet will be to contact a dietician (your mothers doctor should recommend one for her..) But, white flour, sugar, white rice, white potatoes, are some of the things she should not eat...fresh vegetables, complex carbs, high fiber whole grain breads are all excellent for
