Q:
How can you lower your risk of breast cancer?
A: You will hear a lot of bunk on this topic. In general, dietary habits are a very small influence, although alcohol consumption is probably a risk factors. Estrogen therapy (for birth control or menopausal symptoms) is a small risk factor as well. There''s nothing you can ingest that will lower your risk. I believe that somewhere I did read that a low fat diet can reduce the risk of breast cancer. The other posters are correct in that there is a large genetic influence that you cannot control. I have heard that in some families the chances were so great that a female would get

Q:
My mother has breast cancer and has hotflashes docotrs gave her a antidepressant to stop the hot flashes?
A: Sometimes doctors use different medications for different things. A lot of anti-depressant meds are used for diagnosis'' other than, well, depression. Some prevent migraines (Elavil), some are good for neuralgia and other pain (Cymbalta). I haven''t specifically heard of an anti-depressant for hot flashes, but you never know. It really depends, if the doctor feels that this could help her, and she is comfortable taking it, then it should be fine. I take the Elavil, as I mentioned above, to prevent migraines. It has been wonderful, and hasn''t affected my mental health what so ever. Just saves...

Q:
what herbs did you take to get rid of cancer?
A: I''ve heard 1 firsthand account of someone taking "laetrile" and it worked for him. They don''t do it here in the USA, it is not FDA approved (of course not) but it comes from almonds, pits of peaches, etc. Just google it. There is also a tea called "essiac" you can drink. I''m not a doctor and have no idea what kind or stage of cancer you are asking about. My grandpa was stage 4 lung cancer and it was all over his body, my personal opinion, someone in that kind of state should not be taking chemo or radiation, just herbs and homeopathic

Q:
My brother just have a heart attack and he cant work and very depress what kind of activities can I suggest?
A: a heart attack is a life threatening event, and your brother is having his mortality shoved in his face, he now knows he is not going to live forever.... he should be depressed. Give him time to come to terms with his new awareness, at least three months. Call him, talk about your life and how things are going, to give him a view that life goes on. Don''t try to "cheer him up", you only deny him his right to feel as he does when you do this. After three months, if he hasn''t started back into his normal swing, then suggest that he would benefit from seeing a therapist or a...

Q:
what is the risk of eating a lot of soy?
A: I am not sure about studies, but I have always suscribed to the moderation theme for eating. I would say that if all you are eating all the time is soy, probably not the best thing for your health. Turning Japanese. I use soy sauce to tenderise meat so it''s probably somewhat acidic. I shouldn''t think consuming it liberally would hurt your beautiful little baby''s brain, just give them an upset tummy and an interesting mess for you to clean up. Pooping a lot of soy. everything in ecxess is dangerous even the good things ;) i don''t know a lot about this topic, but i...

Q:
I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia what kind of exercise should I do and what should my diet be like?
A: 1. your diet should be a healthy one just like everyone else''s as for exercise i recommend swimming or water aerobics because is very low impact, also light walking helps when its not to painful 2. I agree with Becca. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia over 10 years ago. Light exercise (swimming and water exercise if you can get it!) is most helpful. I like to walk 40 minutes a day, five days a week. A healthy diet is best. I look for foods without additives--I really believe that ingredients like artificial sweeteners and preservatives (and monosodium glutamate--MSG) can worsen fibromyalgia pain. The shorter the list of ingredients, the better. Frozen foods are...
